once upon a time (just when you thought you’d had enough)
someone wanted lies, and shouted
"please call mr. bluff!"
the crowd sang:
"please dear mr. bluff just whisper something in my ear
don’t make it the truth, just tell me what i want to hear
tell me i’m a beauty... and that i have a brain
tell that that god loves me; tell me that i’m not insane
tell me that my t.v. news reporters got it right
tell me 'we’re the best' so i can sleep so well tonight
tell me not to question, tell me not to cry
tell me to believe you when you look me in the eye"
-------------------------------------
mr. bluff was quick to put the good word on display
but just under his voice was something no one heard him say:
"don’t ever look behind the curtain, you don’t want to see
that mr. bluff is really just the stuff of you & me"
