For-Give (and remember)

·       Forgiveness is fine.  'forgive & forget,' however... is a mistake.  we should remember things that hurt or harm, and we should look at the perpetrator’s current state of thought, word, and deed.
 
1.     has s/he apologized via actions, e.g. stopping the hurtful behavior?

2.     has s/he demonstrated extinction of that hurtful behavior (for days, months, years)?

3.     if someone is well-behaved now, it is time to forgive (and ob-serve).  the goal is to help that person to not fall back into the habits that spawned the hurtful behavior.

4.     If you really, really love someone: For-Give and remember.
 
of course, a higher vibration than Forgiveness is Nonjudgment: the state of getting to a point where/when we under-tand what might have led to the behavior in question.  even in Nonjudgment, however, it might be prudent to sleep with one eye open, for a time.
