house of cards

i’m just a house of cards
it’s such a sight to see
if you re-move a corner (no!)
there’s nothing left of me
 
it looks good from a distance but (up close) there’s something odd
inside (there’s nothing in it)
i’m just a house of cards

·       in a world of technology, avatars, social media profiles, actors, impersonators and poets… who are we, really?  are we that which we project outward (to others)?

·       are there thoughts and memories that we keep hidden from others?

·       is the u.s. economy a house of cards?  international nuclear weapon agreements?  diamonds?  reality tv?  artificial intelligence?

·       are we barely holding things together -- like a house of cards, hoping that one of the base cards doesn’t fall?
 
Heaven help us all.
