b128 (10.6-1.2025): when i was a queen

when i was a queen
by a. former queen

when i was miss georgia
bikini and tight jeans
i won wet t-shirt contests, oh!
when i was in my teens

now i’m eighty-seven and i smile at way-back-when
what i’d give to have a chance to do it all again

·       i met miss gaston college (and her 80-something year-old husband) the other night, outside at the restaurant/bar. she noticed my t-shirt and said: “i was miss gaston college in 1967!”

·       they were ‘happily’ married, and more than happy to share the challenges of married life over the course of decades.

·       beyond her wrinkles, you could get a sense of her younger self: commanding attention, living the dream, and (of course) getting her man.

·       i hope that she was able to live her life to the fullest (with no regrets).

·       i promised to try to find her a throwback version of the college t-shirt, and i’ve found 2 for her.

😃

if humans are still around in 10-20 years, i wonder what i’ll be like in my 70s & 80s.

* update: i found two throwback-shirts (a his and a hers), and presented the t-shits to them at JR Cash's (outside, along the river) in typical lenny fashion.
