who am i when everything has been taken from me?

how am i (not) where?
what am i? (if something)

in the (above) video, orion taraban mused that “who we are” is that which is left -- when everything that can be taken-away is taken-away. 

so:

 what can be taken from me?
·       home, cars, jobs, friends, family, country, limbs, life…
·       sight, sound, touch (e.g. physical senses)
·       reputation (ouch)
 
…but what does this leave, basil?
 
·       a sense of self (until ego-death, upon which it could be a “sense of All”)
·       gratitude (for great memories/experiences [e.g. education, travel, friendships])
·       gratitude… learning (from bad memories/experiences [e.g. guilt, regret, etc.])
 
so… if my sense-of-self can see beyond the veil (and into the connection with the All in the Big Play), then (in Reality), i am nowhere & nothing but gratitude -- for being allowed into this theater.
