...i'm done with paying homage to the modern-day gladiator: the football player who gives his body for the team, the city, and the honor & glory. as a former college football fan, i can now watch it with detachment.
it actually teeters on child-abuse -- to rear a tot in the cult of a team, its colors,
and a sense of "we are this."

sports like golf and baseball are less dangerous than football, but the underlying rule applies: gladiators. stadiums. cheering fans. battle. wins and losses.
in a word, ego.
don't get me wrong,
i respect those young men & women who get caught-up in it...
but not the fan.
but not the fan.
i'll probably catch a lot of flak for this post...
but fans... are like those who give $$ to the homeless guy on the corner.
you are just perpetuating the system.
Of course... maybe I'm just a high school player who got his brain bashed-in one too many times to appreciate the glory. :)
