as we, as a nation, celebrate independence day with fireworks... how many of us contemplate bombs?
a bomb... is an indiscriminate killer. it is a weapon of war. i ponder (as a former soldier) how our nation was born from war, e-volved from centuries of nations born-and-raised on war, e-volved from warring tribes that e-volved from warriors.
when i watch a video of bombs, now, i don't see goodness. i see a species, hell-bent on power and bullying and war and death and "collateral damage."
i don't see goodness.
i love the u.s.a., and i am truly grateful for the opportunities. my military time was fantastic (and, dare i say it? fun!). i have never seen war, up close, thankfully.
when i see/hear fireworks, i'm torn -- between a patriotic love of home, and a legacy of unnecessary killling.
