as we grow up, we realize that we've been lied to by people with agendas.
1. some actually believed their own lies, and their agenda may have been "to help us live better by joining their team" (after all, there's power in numbers). you may have been lied-into a political perspective, a church group, or even a college football team's colors. in any event, the liar had an agenda.
2. other people may have told straight-out falsehoods (e.g. the easter bunny, tooth fairy, etc.) based upon other agendas (some of which simply followed the same pattern of lies that they had been told in the past).
most don't connect the dots (between one's own agenda and the lie).
in any case, forgiveness would entail purging ourselves of the pain: resentment, anger, anxiety, etc. produced by the lie. however, this is another "forgive & remember" situation.
purge the inner pain by understanding the why's associated with the lie, but remember that people (even those who love you the most) are capable of lying -- especially if it suits the liar's agenda.
