nothing
you can do

you’re locked-down (in shelter) while the fox is in the coop
you’re in quarantine (and there is nothing you can do)
______________________________
what can one do, when there is nothing you can do?
1. take control of what you can control: bodymind.
a.
this would be a good time to meditate.
b.
i suggest 10% happier.
https://www.tenpercent.com/
i. meditation benefits can occur in seconds, in fact…
ii. …the essence of
meditation is the practice of shifting the mind (back to center) – because
you’ve practiced and become aware of (1) mind-wandering can be stress-full, (2)
mind-wandering can be counter-productive, and (3) noticing the wandering can be
used as the vector back to center.
iii. center (of course)
usually involves some type of breath or body awareness, which can be the
precursor to a conscious shift in thought-patterns.
iv. a shift to gratitude can
all-ways result in a shift from i-ll-ness to we-ll-ness.
2.
watch it, like it’s a horror movie.
a.
detach from the horror-i-ble scenes that make you ill.
b.
see #1, above.
3.
vote hard – even if you believe that your vote means nothing.
a.
take action.
b.
take control over what you can control.
c.
re-lease the urge to control that which is out of your control.
4.
practice concerned-detachment.
a.
pay enough attention (to external events) to poise yourself to take
actions when you can, while
b.
taking the time to tap into gratitude, for being able to go the
move-i-es.
the distress arises from the feeling that there is nothing that we can do…
soooooo…
what we can control is all intrinsic:
· our breath,
·
our consumption (eating, drinking, and watching/listening),
·
our individual body movements (e.g. exercise/stretching), and
·
our thoughts.
-the beginning.
