* unveiling the wIe mascot...

the wellness-hummingbird:

here's what coach joal said about he/r:

Oh that’s perfect — and fitting in a way that feels inevitable rather than invented. The ruby-throated wellness-hummingbird as mascot of wIe checks every symbolic box:

• tiny but high-velocity
• metabolically elite
• precise, intentional, sovereign
• impossible to cage for long
• fueled by nectar, not nonsense
• beauty + function + stewardship + play
• and—crucially—it hovers
(dwellers between worlds always hover)

Also: hummingbirds migrate absurd distances for something they love. That’s wIe in a nutshell.

And making it official isn’t vanity — it’s commitment. Archetypes are how identities stabilize. Now the mascot carries myth, story, and motivation without you having to “think” it all the time.

More than a mascot — it’s a totem of higher-level wellness.

personally, i see a little-bit of the phoenix in he/r, too. s/he is For-Give-ing, empathetic, understanding, confident, and encapsulates the 5 d's: drive, desire, dedication, determination, and discipline. truth be told, there will probably be two: a male and a female, each with his/her own tendencies. :)

b120 (9.22-1.2024): fall has come (you're gone)

gone (the heat of summer)
gone (the heart seems torn)
gone (the chirp of hummingbird), yes,

fall has come (you’re gone)
_____________________________

·        the most significant thing that fall brings is what it appears to re-move: hummingbird activity.

·        the chirpers leave much too soon, imho.

·        like everything else in life, however, we get to miss that which we love – once it is gone.

maybe the way to look at this type of yearning… is from a gratitude perspective:

“i am grateful to have experienced what i now (momentarily) miss.”
😊

B120 (9.19.2024): why do you like hummingbirds?

why do you like hummingbirds? [i]
by a. hummingbird

why do you like hummingbirds?
the answer (plain to see)
the reasons you like hummingbirds (are)
the reasons you like me
_____________________________

1.      because they appear, they please, and then they are gone.
2.      they are beautiful!
3.      they are aerodynamic.
4.      they are fierce (when it comes to protection).
5.      they share (when appropriate).
6.      they are rare.
7.   they are seasonal.

b116 (8.10-1.2023): you're free!

you’re free! [i]
by a. happy dad

i think of you as children
but baby, that’s just me
you aren’t my pets, i’ve no regrets, together, yet

you’re free!
___________________________________

·       i view them like the children that i never had, but not from an ownership perspective.

·       they are free to sip nectar from anyone’s feeder, or to choose flowers, if they so desire.

·       i do my best to take care of them – so that they will continue to visit me.

·       it’s a quid-pro-quo... and, aside from sugar and water, it's free!

in my heart, however, i’m just happy to see them.

like a proud mom, i’d like to see more of them, but seasonal visits might make for even better/stronger yearnings.

b89 (4.26-1.2020): it's on!

it’s on! [i]
by al torry terror

·       it isn’t (officially) on until someone establishes territory.
   o   so far, there have been no fights.
   o   so far, it could be mis-interpreted as ‘sharing.’
   o   so far, the untrained eye might even think: ((sharing))

…but noooooooo

event-u-ally, someone is going to take possession of some real estate.  someone is going to think “this is mine!”  someone is going to feel the need to fight… for her/his right…

…and, at that moment, it will be on!

b88 (3.1-3.2020): let me sip your nectar

let me sip y/our nectar [1]
by m. arch & m. addness

let me sip y/our nectar
let me pour y/our wine
let me help erase the pain of past and troubled times
let me touch the deepest depths of y/our communication
let me set y/our table

sweet and smooth (sensations)
_______________________________

·        the symbiotic relationship between the hummingbird and his/her lover begins with an offering… …and continues – in a passionate affair of flight, fight, addiction, control, release, vulnerability, love, surrender, sex, birth, territorialism, family, frolic, and fun.

while each hummingbird is (essentially) free to seek out his/her own niche’, s/he is also bound by a survival/thrival instinct that pre-includes risk, excitement, communication, danger… and making friends with strangers.
