yankee birds aflutter
though they know not why
they dance with one-another
earth & water, sky

·       in mid-september, when there are two or three hummingbirds remaining, they still dance and fight over the abundance of nectar on the back deck.

·       they are slower, now, as they prepare for a journey (a superflight) that is deeply ingrained in the subconscious.
 
as for me, i contemplate whether to leave the u.s.a. or retreat to the mountains, in solitude.
