why do we believe

...based on what do we perceive?

https://bigthink.com/smart-skills/question-your-perceptions/?utm_source=GetTheElevatordotcom

passover

passover: to pass over critical portions of a 'holy' book because (a) it is hard to read, (b) it is hard to understand, (c) i'm bored, or (d) i'm tired.

then, i can pretend that i read it,
and i can pretend to believe the stuff that
someone else who pretends to have read it
tells me is in it...
uh... based upon his divine interpretation.

it is similar to flying in an airplane ((insomuch as one can pass over the cities, the gouging of the earth, the pollution, and the violence without really paying any attention to it...)) and then believing the foxy newscastmakers.

what in carnation?

what (when) in carnation? [1]
by ima believer

what (when) in carnation?
what was that they said?
what do i believe?
have i been misled?

why do i believe in things no-one can understand?
what (when) in carnation?
a god, a son, a man

[2] how jesus became god by bart d ehrman.

.

ima believer

by ima believer

religious bible-thumpers would sing a completely different song if they did three, simple things:

  1. read the bible*
  2. read the skeptic's annotated bible (SAB) by steve wells
  3. watch "how jesus became god" (on amazon prime, netflix, etc.) with bart d. ehrman, a biblical scholar who is a professor at the university of north carolina.
note: #1 & #2 (above) can be done simultaneously, as the SAB contains the KJV (King James Version) of the bible, and provides commentary on it.

* no.  i mean really, really read the bible.

bonus: conduct 10 minutes of research (or google) any of the following:
  • images: original bible transcripts
  • virgin births throughout history (i'd call it his-story)
  • who really authored the bible, and when?
    • don't just cherry pick (based upon your own, pre-existing beliefs).
    • really, really inquire.

pain/pressure/Bliss

pain and/or pressure isn't a bad thing, at all.

in fact, it's why we're here.  we come to the movies because of the chills and the spills, the loves and the lossesBliss can only but reflect that which appears as pain.

everything (in this living Uni-Verse) happens because of pressure.

we wouldn't have it any other way!

f-THAT!

when anyone suggests that you 'should' do something that is contrary to your own best inferences.

ghost story

a ghost story is a story that cannot be verified.

it is often one person's recollection of a moment, or a dream, or a darkened room scheme -- to scare, to dare, or to impair logic & reason in favor of that which may (or may not) be ethereal.
